Windows Phone

After designing and releasing the PayPal Windows Phone application, I transitioned into Android. PayPal had previously outsourced all Android design and development and wanted to bring those functions in-house. Of most importance, PayPal was ready to become a mobile payment leader and allow people to use their phones to pay in stores.

Challenge

Microsoft’s new Windows Phone and Metro design language

This project's challenge was filling the financial consumer app void on the WindowsPhone home screen. I had the honor of being chosen to design the first PayPal app for Windows Phone.

The project primarily consisted of deconstructing the services provided by PayPal and functionality within the existing iOS and Android apps. It also offered the opportunity to learn the new Metro Design language.

Information Architecture

After studying Microsoft's intent for the Metro design language and the mobile platform, I deconstructed the PayPal app functionality and created an Information Architecture for the initial release of Windows Phone.

Solution

Outcomes

When released, the Windows Phone community loved the results and gave the app 4.5 average ratings.
